Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says Permanent work from home cannot be continued

As everyone around the world are experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic. A few companies like twitter announced permanent work from home for their employees. Twitter also granted an option to work from home even after the end of this pandemic effect.

Microsoft CEO Nadella says making remote work permanently may lead to many negative consequences for both mental health and social interactions. Because everyone is attending the meetings with Video calls but the video calls cannot replace the in-person meetings.

In an interaction with New York times, Satya Nadella says “what I miss is when you walk into a physical meeting, you are talking to the person that is next to you, you’re able to connect with them for the two minutes before and after”.

His comment came as soon as Twitter granted work from home for their employees.

Microsoft extended work from home for its employees until October of this year. So far Microsoft spent $10 billion in its recent quarter on share buybacks and dividends, up more than 30 percent from the year before.
